Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

In case you haven't heard, college football gets underway tomorrow! And the University of Utah gets to help lead the way by kicking off their season with a game against Montana State tomorrow night at 6:00pm MST at Rice-Eccles Stadium. And as a season ticket holder, your truely will be in the crowd cheering on the Utes (special thanks to my wife who allows me to get season tickets year after year, and will even have to put up with our little man alone during the games this year!) But to help get you amped for the 4+ greatest months of the year (college football season, sorry Halloween and Christmas) here is a video of the 10 greatest plays for Utah football last season.

And tune in tomorrow to find out my personal favorite play from last year (hint, its in these top 10). Enjoy

More than Words

Day 24: A photo of something that means a lot to you. Eternity. This means more to me than I could ever tell you. It's also kind of a hard one to pick a picture for. I chose this one of Brian and I in front of the Mount Timpanogos Temple because this is where we were given the opportunity to have eternity with each other and with our son, Dace. How lucky are we? I am so glad to be a part of an eternal family and have the chance to have my own! I just hope my boys can put up with me for that long.

Fact? Or Fiction?

Day 23: 15 facts about you.

15: One of my all time favorite foods is mashed potatoes. Especially if they are made of the red variety.
14: I read text books in high school. For fun.
13: I love any outdoor sport! I repel, hike, camp, kayak, backpack, climb, run, and swim. Not necessarily at the same time though.
12: I didn't learn cursive until after high school.
11: I'm allergic to ice cream, but eat it anyways.
10: I worked at scout camp for three years, and loved it.
9: My favorite color has been orange since I was little.
8: I punched the same kid twice in elementary. Once for kissing me in 1st grade, and the second for picking on my brother in 6th grade. Both times felt great.
7: I have a gazillion best friends, but only one bestest friend. Who? My husband!
6: I like to cook, but love it when my husband does! He's so much better than me!
5: Growing up, I never really knew what I wanted to be. There were just too many choices!Turns out, being a Mom means that I get to be everything!
4: I collect Barbies and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
3: I have two favorite places to be. Disneyland and Columbia Falls, Montana.
2: I've fallen out of a second story window, had Russian Roulette done to me, been in a car accident that sent me to the hospital, and had a million other close death calls, and they've only made me appreciate life even more.
1: The greatest thing to ever happen to me, is that I became a wife and a mother. Thank you Dace and Brian, for making that happen!

Dear Dace

Day 22: A letter to someone important to you. First, a little plug for my Auntie! Growing up, I always felt like I had two Mom's. My own mother, and her twin sister, Natha. She's an amazing photographer. She took our wedding pictures and she was so nice to take pictures of Dace. Dace loves her and has even initiated her by pooping on her. (Eww! Sorry Natha!) But the above picture is one that she took, and I love it.

Now, A letter to someone important to you. Originally this was supposed to be a letter to someone who's hurt you recently. Um, Emo much? So I changed it. I would much rather write a letter to someone I love. I love a lot of people. Dace being one of the most recent ones, but one of the ones I love the most! He's tied with his Daddy. Somehow I got really lucky to have two of the most amazing boys in my life! Dace, this is for you.

Dear Dace,
I've loved you since the moment I knew you were coming into our family. I imagined who you would look like. Would you have my hair? My eyes? Would you have Daddy's nose or lips? Who would you laugh like? There was so many questions that I wanted to know! There were scary moments when I thought we couldn't make it to 40 weeks, but you surprised me and went 41. It terrified me in the hospital as I watched your heart rate drop and they told me I had a fever that could effect you. Would I even get to meet you? But the moment you came into this world, screaming your lungs out, I knew you were going to be okay. Anyone who objected that much to change was just as stubborn as his parents and would not give up without a fight. You had a fever and your heart was racing. The doctors wanted to rush you away to make sure you were okay, but one nurse dropped you into my arms and within minutes, your heart rate had slowed down and your fever was gone. I looked into your eyes and realised, I was a Mommy. I couldn't take my eyes from you. (I still can't!) Daddy has the same problem. It was weird to think that we were no longer a couple, but a family. I loved that you just stared back at us with your eyes wide open.

You've made Mommy and Daddy so happy! Over the past two weeks, you have changed our lives for the better. You've blessed us in so many ways! I never thought I would love someone so much! You are so amazingly perfect! What did I do to deserve such an amazing little spirit in my life? I love everything about you! I love that you hate formula, and the face you make every time we try to feed it to you. I love that you sleep like your Daddy and kick the blankets off your feet. I love it when you bury your face in my arms and just want to cuddle with me. I love that you will pull back when I'm holding you, just to look at me. I love when you and Daddy give Eskimo kisses. I love how peaceful you look when you fall asleep on Daddy's chest. I love that Daddy falls asleep too. I love that when you have a blow out, you just look at us and seem to ask "What did I do?" I love that it doesn't faze you when we laugh. I love that you mimic me and stick your tongue out. I love that I can sing silly camp songs to you, and you seem to enjoy it. I love that you try and eat Daddy's nose. I love that you are so awake and alert. I love that you know both mine and Daddy's voices. I love that you hate it when I call your Daceroni. I love how precious you are and that God saw us fit enough to be your parents. I hope I can live up to his expectations.

Dace, I just want you to know how much you mean to us. We will always be there for you, to guide you and protect you. I hope that you will grow to love the Lord as much as we do. After all, he's the one that loaned you to us. I am so glad he did and that we have the opportunity to be together with you for eternity. Always know that is our goal. I love you so much my little Daceroni.
Love, Mommy

Almost Here!

As I have been off work and enjoying the company of my wife and son, I have watched the days fly by (it seems to do that when you don't have to clock in for 2 weeks). However today I did noticed how close we are to college football! In fact, in a week I will be at Rice-Eccles watching Utah beat up on Montana State (I know, tough game right, but as a member of an elite conference, your aloud to have cupcakes that first week). the countdown in face is 7 days, 2 hours, 41 minutes, 23 seconds....22 seconds....21 seconds....you get the picture. And here is a picture of yet another Utah die-hard ready for football to begin, hope you enjoy and thanks to Natha for the picture.

Little Stud Dace

Our little guy has been a lot of work and a lot of fun. Every moment he proves how much he's worth it. In just the few day he's been with our family, he's blessed us in more ways we can count. We've had a busy couple of days with visits to the doctor (he's gained weight!), errands (we forgot to get a lot of stuff), Uncle Doug's birthday party (he met his cousins for the first time), and of course trying to get our routine down.He likes to sleep on his side with his feet uncovered, just like his parents. This of course makes me very nervous. The only time he gets away with it is when I'm right there next to him to keep him from rolling over. He's come pretty close already, mostly by accident, but he is kinda a show off. We went to Uncle Dougs birthday party and Dace got to meet his cousins. Owen loved just looking at him and wanted so badly to touch him. Unfortunately he moves so fast we couldn't get a good picture of them together.

The girls loved holding him and kissing him. They are such good cousins!

We took our first bath... and loved it! Except the being naked part.

And of course we had to get a picture of him in his car seat for the first time. Mommy and Dace before leaving the hospital.

Daddy and Dace before leaving the hospital.

We are so lucky to have this little guy in our lives. Mommy and Daddy love you Dace!

Finally Here!!!!

After making us wait an extra seven days, Dace Cobi Bodell has finally joined us! He came into our family Friday, August 12th at 7:28pm. The little guy weighted 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches. He is a little stud with beautiful dark brown hair and brown eyes with a beautiful blue rim. He has enjoyed many visitors the past two days and hopefully will be able to go on his way home today! We are so excited to welcome D.C. into our family and look forward to the life parenthood brings us!

Freshly Made Tortillas

So there is something good about being 5 days overdue, I found a new love. Homemade tortillas! My friends (yes, I feel like I know them and that we are friends) over at www.ourbestbites.com are geniuses. Seeing as my husband is Mexican, we eat a lot of tortillas. Especially the Don Julio variety! Tonight though, we decided to try something a little different. We made fajitas and I thought it would be fun to try and make our own tortillas. I came across this recipe a while ago and thought I'd give it a try. Like all of the recipes I've tried from these ladies, the directions were simple, the ingredients were common, the amount of prep time was minimal, and the end result was delicious! How can you not like www.ourbestbites.com recipes? Although I can't roll a circle out of dough to save the life of me, I had so much fun making and eating these tortillas. Brian even mentioned something about getting me a tortilla press to make them look pretty, so I can serve them to guests, because they tasted so good! Seriously though, you have to try this simple and delicious recipe. It's worth it.

Thanks www.ourbestbites.com for the amazing recipe, and the picture I borrowed.

Getting Close

As stated in my last post, college football is only 24 days away. Here is a clip of Shaky Smithson's punt return vs UNLV (the one where Greg Bird lit up that Rebel). Enjoy!

Still Waiting for Somethings

Well Dace has yet to make his entry into our family (2 days overdue now) and the excitement is killing me! He just needs to hurry up and get here already. Something I don't have to sit around and wait for is my Utes season tickets which came on Saturday and now they are gracing our fridge with their beauty. Though Dace is the only thing on my mind these days, I think it is important to remember that college football is only 24 days away and that September 1st at 6:00pm, Utah will get their 2011 season underway and I will be there in the Red Zone cheering them on! (And taking pictures to share with Dace when I get home, so he can get use to the sight he'll be enjoying in a few years.

2 days overdue!

Another day over due... Come on kid! It has been a couple of fun days though. My sisters and I got to hang out at the pool, which is always fun! Brian also had two cousins get married over the past two days and we went to their receptions. Now we are just waiting for this little guy to make his debut. I just hope it happens soon!

D day!

Well it's D day and guess who hasn't come yet? Yup, my stubborn little boy. I can already tell he's just like his daddy and will come on his own time, but I love him anyways. It's been another early morning for me, but I guess that just means I have time to get stuff done. Yesterday, my sisters and I did end up making it down to the pool and it was sooo nice! Not that any of us actually got in the water, but it was fun to just sit by the side of the pool, enjoy the nice weather and talk. We also were able to watch some iCarly (such a cheesy but fun show) and then spend the evening at Brians brothers house playing with the kids. It was pretty relaxing. As far as the agenda today, I've got a Doctors appointment (praying for good news, like "He's coming right now!") top of the fluids in my car, go grocery shopping, and a reception tonight. And the best part? My sisters are still here! I love having someone to entertain me during the day. :)

Time off?

Well it seems I have some time off... Dace is due any day, and my last shift was Saturday, at least until after he comes. I made a goal to not slack off, but to actually be productive. That means at least doing something other than sitting in front of the TV watching X-Files. I'm keeping track of what I do, so that I don't go stir crazy as well as feel like I'm being productive. I'm hoping I won't feel guilty that I had time off and can't remember a single thing I did. I'm not used to having so much time for stuff I want to do.

Sunday: 5 days until D day. Woke up bright and early, made sure I had my primary lesson ready to go, spent the morning reading the newspaper with my husband. (This has become somewhat of a ritual for us.) Spent about a half hour at Brian's brothers house before heading to church. We came home to a delicious dinner of Swiss Steaks and watched some TV before Brian got called into work at 9:15 PM. He didn't get home until close to 11:00 so we got to bed late and then he got called at 1:00 in the morning by work again... Lets just say it was a long night.

Monday: 4 days until D day. I made homemade hogi rolls and french dip sandwiches for dinner later that night, went to the store so that Brian could make Skookies and bacon wrapped green beans (also for dinner). I also did some cleaning, checked email, and caught up on some coupons I'd been meaning to organize. We had friends over for dinner and were in bed by 9:00. I think it was a fantastic and productive day.

Tuesday: 3 days until D day. I did not wake up to my first alarm. I did not wake up to my second alarm. I woke up to a text from my husband around 8:30. That's definitely not like me. I think I slept too much because there's a pounding in my head. I managed to eat breakfast, check emails, and catch up on a couple of blogs I'd been meaning to read. I then spent 2 hours organizing a binder that's been collecting random things for five years now, such as wedding announcements, graduation invitations, and Christmas cards... Wow, we have a lot of friends and family. It definitely made me appreciate them even more to know that my friends and family keep in touch, even when I slack off. Next, a menu.... I'm not so good at coming up with ideas for dinner when the time rolls around, so I made myself make a menu for a month. That way, if I don't know what to make, it's already decided for me. Go me! When Brian got home, we did some shopping and walked around Target, yet again. Because we really need to get this kid out. And we were in bed by 9:00 again. How awesome is that?

Wednesday: 2 days until D day. Another late start for me. I guess that's a good thing though. I need to stay rested until this little guy comes. I've organized the bathroom and made some room for Dace. Who knew that babies needed so much space! Coupons are done, the house is picked up, and dinner is in the crock pot. What's next on the list? Make homemade breadsticks, dinner with my hubby, a movie, and spend the evening with my sisters who are spending the weekend with us. Yay! Got to bed late, but oh well. At least I can sleep in. :)

Thursday: 1 day until D day. Woke up at 6:00!? What? Why? I just feel bad for Brian. He's up at this time every single day. Well, I guess the day can get started. My sisters are still asleep, but I can make breakfast. I'm really hoping we make it down to the pool today. But if things change... as in we head to the hospital, I'm okay with that too. :)
